IVA DRVARIČ

Having always been interested in events around the globe, innovation, issues concerning sustainable development and challenges confronting everyday life, I decided to dedicate my undergraduate studies to International Economics. I would not only like to see change but be a part of it by contributing to the local community and seeing it develop to its full potential. These are also the values and goals of the Global Shapers Community, an initiative of the World Economic Forum, of which I am a part and where I work on the "Mladi junaki" project. I also believe these are the topics discussed among IMB students and that we as a whole can make a noticeable contribution in many areas of society. At home or abroad, I always make time for meeting new people and the combo of a good coffee and debate about different cultures, politics, economy, music, art or cuisine.

VID JANŠA

I come from a small town in the Northeastern part of Slovenia. It was cozy and familiar, but not very exciting. Especially for someone like me, who is curious, open-minded and enjoys new challenges. I earned a bachelor degree in Banking and Financial Management. During my studies I remained active through extracurricular activities such as work in the student organisation Management Group, several exchanges and business competitions. This allowed me to get an internship at Lek and later at A.T. Kearney where the most important thing I realized is that I still have much more to learn. I see the IMB programme as an important next step in my career, as I believe it will enable me to further expand my knowledge and gain a strong network of colleagues.

At the age of 16 I started working at Lawyer’s office Čeferin as a student, where I stayed for six years. I quickly adapted to the office environment and enjoyed my job, however, I realized that my true passion lies within the business world, particularly entrepreneurship. At that point I decided to continue my studies in International Business, School of Economics and Business, in Ljubljana. Exposed to the international environment for several years I grasped that communication skills are fundamental for common success and that I thrive best in multicultural surroundings. Being a people-oriented person, I have always admired different cultures coming together and integrating with one another and so enriching the society. KARMEN KRVINA

After obtaining my BSc degree in International Business at the University of Ljubljana, School of Economics and Business and in part at the Jönköping International Business school, Sweden, I was excited to once again be immersed in the SEB LU community atmosphere. It is a unique environment where I could be challenged by both the case-method of teaching and the high calibre of classmates, whose knowledge will stimulate the advancement of my soft skills as well as my analytical background. This can only be achieved by a strong commitment to teamwork and continuous “two-way street” communication as the sources of trust, wherein the later fosters personal growth and strengthens interpersonal relations. Thus, the IMB program is an ideal cultural fit as integrity, dedication and persistence are seen as core values, all of which are of greatest importance to me.

In 2017, I graduated from the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Azerbaijan Republic majoring in Management and right after that I deliberately took a gap year to try myself in a real-life work within the borders of my hometown. During my last year at the academy, I landed a job of an office manager, but in a half a year I switched to a more challenging and demanding PR-manager position at a different company. I’ve never regretted that decision, as Public Relations taught me so many valuable things and I grew through that experience both professionally and personally. Having heard of the IMB program’s prestigiousness and after hours of research done, I made a decision to apply, because I saw this program as a way to expose myself to intensive learning and a great chance to get together with people from different backgrounds. Also, the fact that studies take place in Ljubljana was just perfect, since the city always appealed to me on a whole different level. What else about myself? Well, I suppose one word that almost everyone uses when describing me is “hard-working”. And that’s pretty much on point, as I am a big believer in effort and perseverance. Besides that, I am really passionate about language learning, sports, travelling and interior design

I am equally fascinated by quantum physics, ancient Roman societies, obscure languages, and developments in web technology. I have a master's degree in History and English. The IMB programme and the career I am pursuing will allow me to combine my various interests and will present me with new challenges through which I will be able to grow as a person.

URBAN OREHEK

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in English and am currently finishing my Master’s in English while navigating the rough seas of IMB. I could bore you with the fact that I have a lot of work experience in international environments and a lot of academic achievements (like organizing and chairing as well as lecturing at an international academic symposium), but that is not the aim of this text. Since I am a very dynamic person, studying English and working as an English teacher quickly became too monotonous due to not being challenging enough, forcing me to rethink my career choices. That led me to embark on my IMB journey hopefully leading me to a wonderful job in a multinational corporation big enough to accommodate my personality, as well as my insatiable need for excitement, new knowledge and thrilling challenges.
