The objective of module is to examine sustainability models, relevant for hotel sector. For the business practice, these models will be transformed into business models and their aspects will be studied. We will discuss the business environmental conditions that may stimulate or hindern the sustaianble behaviour. The environmental awareness and responsibility state of the art in Slovenian society will be presented and the managerial space for alternative models discussed.

MODULE 2: Capital budgeting and corporate valuation in tourism industry

Objective of the course:

Participants will learn basics of financial management and capital budgeting decision making process. They will also gain insight in the corporate valuation methods. By using real life examples from this course will equip students with the knowledge needed to create value and to minimize risk with investments in hospitality industry.

In the hospitality industry most executives today agree that the three main strategic alternatives for growth are: Management Contracts, Franchising Contracts, and Ownership. Every industry executive should have an in-depth knowledge of the three of them, the positive and negative implications of each of them, and the different strategic factors that should be considered when deciding which one is the best for your company or your individual hospitality business.

MODULE 4: HRM and quality management

The course is based on an extensive research with major branded organisations operating in the fields of bar and restaurant, and in wider hospitality management and it focuses on service workers on the front-line, its performance and leadership.
The team fronting the customer is at the forefront of building customer satisfaction and it is essential that management build cohesive and coherent teams focused on high quality service delivery.

No other media in history has changed the hospitality industry as much as the internet has. On one hand it spawned an abundance of new market opportunities and business models, and on the other it has put traditional hospitality providers either at risk or has at minimum pushed them to re-evaluate their current business models.
