PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT


The purpose of the project is to generate and disseminate knowledge and best practices for strengthening the role of the EU in a globalised world and enhancing competitiveness of EU firms in turbulent global markets. 

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT

  • increase awareness and understanding of the role of European integration processes for the success of European firms in global markets and the role of the EU in a globalised world
  • strengthen cooperation and exchange of theory and risk management practices between academic and corporate sphere
  • present a forum for dialogue and exchange of experiences, knowledge and best practices with policymakers and wider society
  • contribute to promoting European values in economic relations with third countries at the individual, corporate, and institutional levels of cooperation.

MAIN ACTIVITIES OF THE PROJECT

  • New teaching module “Risk Management in International Business – A Key to EU Business Success in Global Markets” in the 2nd year of International Business master’s programme as a part of the course Risk Management in International Business.
  • Joint projects of participating students and European firms dealing with real challenges in global markets.
  • Workshop “How to guarantee a sustainable connectivity between the EU and China”
  • Promotion of the research cooperation in the following areas:
  • integration of European firms in GVCs and associated risks
  • implications of European integration processes and international agreements between the EU and third countries for EU business success in global economy
  • the relationship between risk management systems and strategy
  • managing geo-political risk of European firms in foreign markets (e.g. China, India).

DELIVERABLES OF THE PROJECT

  • Teaching: teaching materials on theoretical and methodological risk management concepts and approaches, relevant EU integration processes and institutional frameworks, and practices of European firms.
  • Science: Special issue “Risk management practice of European firms” in the scientific journal Economic and Business Review aimed at disseminating scientific contributions and empirical evidence on risk management performance of European firms
  • Practice: Risk management manual for European firms – conceptual model with practical guidelines for European firms on managing risks in their internationalisation and GVC integration
