Aims of the course

Introduction to financial intermediaries and their basic characteristics.

The students become ackuainted with the basic roles of financial intermediaries such as qualitative asset transformation function and various methods to measure and manage financial risks in financial intermediation practice.

The students should obtain basic knowledge of financial institutions management.

Course syllabus

1. The characteristics of modern banking and importance of banking industry for modern financial systems
2. Most important fuctions of banks, financial instrumentsn offered by banking firms and the involvement of banks in the financial structures of the market oriented economies
3. The role of an appropriate supervision and regulation of banking industry and the innovations in this area
4. Other finance knowledge
