Aims of the course

To understand co-dependency of supply chain elements and chain functioning.
To acquaint students with methods and techniques for understanding customer needs and for demand forecasting.
To develop the skills for planning and demand forecasting.

Course syllabus

Basics of supply chain operation.
Demand forecasting, planning and management.
Customer focus in supply chain management.
Data sources and data collection methods.
Basic forecasting tools.
Time series components.
Exponential smoothing methods.
Application of forecasting methods in practice.
Implementation of forecasting: use, advantages and limitations
Management of supply chains and marketing channels.

The course focuses on demand forecasting by using elementary forecasting methods. Students are expected to understand elements of supply chain and factors that affect the final and derived demand.
The nature of the course is interdisciplinary as it ties marketing content to statistical methodology for time series forecasting
