Course syllabus

1. New political economy, preferences and choice.
2. Normative theory of public choice, positive theory of public choice.
3. Subjects of public choice - government, political parties, bureaucracy, interest groups, clubs, voters.
4. Applications upon economic problems and their empirical results: politico-economic cycles, economic model of regulation, non-perfect competition and rent-seeking, economic analysis of government.
5. Economic analysis of political institutions: two- and multiparty systems, elections systmes, federalicm and local self-management.
6. New institutional economics: the racinality assumptions critique; transaction cost, property rights and market imperfections, formal and informal institutions, theory of institutional change, institutions and economic efficiency.
