Economic Demography

Aims of the course

To learn the complex connections, causes and consequences between demographic and economic situation. To develop understanding of the demographic processes and obtain skills for policy oriented analitical work.

Course syllabus

1. Introduction to the economic demography.
2. Special character of the economic demographic analysis. Longitudinal and cross section analysis.
3. Demographic processes. Fertility, mortality and migration.
4. Population growth, reproduction and projections.
5. Demographic models. Stable and stationary model. Other models.
6. Economic demographic models.
7. Economic demographic characters of globalization, general development, environment and natural resources.
8. Demographic elements of a business environment. Economic demography, markets and locations.
9. Economic demography and child(ren) support, health, pensions and support of the elderly.
10. Economy and population policy. Population and development action programme.
11. Sustainable demographic development in Slovenia, Europe and in the world.
