Economic Philosophy

Aims of the course

- To develop interdisciplinary knowledge and understanding of the methodological aspects of economic science, market society, and business (managerial) philosophy
- To develop a level of theoretical thinking about the economy at the level of science, social development, and entrepreneurship
- To master the terms of systematic and critical analysis of economic theory and an economist's view of the world
- To develop the skills required for a profound understanding of the current political and economic problems

Course syllabus

1. Science and economics. Economic ideology.
2. Structures of scientific knowledge (Kuhn, Popper, Lakatos, Feyerabend)
3. Economic iontology. Economic methodology, Critics of economic theories.
4. Institutions of market society. Epistemologic inquiry of market economy (Hayek, Polanyi, Schumpeter)
5. Liberalism and market institutions.
6. Autonomy, liberty and democracy. Economic sociology (interests and power).
7. Economics and management wolrd views. Philosophy of management.
8. Management paradigms and changes of business systems.
