Management of High-tech Companies

Aims of the course

1. To introduce the special characteristics of high-tech environment.
2. To acquire capabilities to manage the development of new technology products.
3. To develop capabilities for managing high-tech companies.
4. To provide knowledge on newer forms of cooperative relationships between companies and workers, enabled by technology (platform strategies, crowdsourcing).

2. Patterns of technology and market change
3. Modularity: component innovation vs. architectural innovation
4. Managing new product development
5. Profiting from technological innovation framework
6. Platform strategies, business ecosystems and crowdsourcing
7. Case studies: Amazon vs. eBay, Samsung Electronics, Outfit7, Eli lilly, Kodak/Polaroid
