International business project & field trip

Aims of the course

Objective:
1. To learn about the complexity of business problems and decision making in international environments.
2. To apply appropriate analytical tools and concepts in an international project setting for a selected company.
3. To learn about a country, target market and its consumers, and to effectively conduct international field work.
4. To present findings and recommendations to the selected company participating in the project.

Competences:
1. Analytical skills for international environments.
2. International and cross-cultural team and project work.
3. International field work (application of int. business concepts and tools in practice).
4. Preparation of a consultancy project for a real international company.
5. Presentation of findings and recommendations to the company.
6. Cross-cultural intelligence, glocal mindset, international team working skills.

Course syllabus

1. Course introduction and about the project.
2. How to work in international teams and essentials of project management.
3. Analytical tools for international business.
4. Country analysis, market analysis, consumer analysis and competitor analysis.
5. Cross-cultural differences, cultural intelligence and skills (i.e. networking, communication etc.).
6. Field trip to selected market (with lectures, visits and field research).
7. Post trip research and field work evaluation.
8. Project presentations (in cooperation with a selected company).
