Internal logistics

Aims of the course

Internal Logistics introduces you to the analysis, planning and control of processes in production and service companies. It builds on the fundamentals of operations and supply chain management and explores advanced concepts of process management concerned with managing the flow of materials and information within organisations with the goal of helping companies meet the demand for the product or service in the marketplace. You will learn to recognise problems related to process management, gain management insights and develop tools to analyse processes and ensure process efficiency. You will gain the knowledge to solve practical business problems related to developing operational strategies, analysing process performance and capabilities, planning and decision making under uncertainty, and applying a lean thinking approach to continuous improvement.
The course is based on interactive lectures and exercises, group homework, online and in-class simulations, and business case discussions in which you will engage with real-world examples to develop and apply the modelling tools (using spreadsheets) to analyse processes and make appropriate business decisions.
