Centre for Quality Assurance and Learning (CeQAL) at the Faculty of Economics develops and monitors the quality of the teaching process, and creates and transmits new knowledge by developing instructors' teaching expertise and skills.
We orient teachers' training in higher educational instruction, introduce new methods and educational technology, offer advice in the creation of new study programs and approaches, and plan and organize educational and advisory activities related to teaching excellence.
We dedicate special attention to cooperation with the business community. We organize lectures by businesspersons, arrange for visits to companies, promote the writing of business case studies and student projects at businesses and institutions, and prepare the Student Business Conference. We are developing all of these forms of cooperation with the Slovenian and international business communities, which have made important contributions to connecting business practice to teaching processes, thereby enhancing their quality.
A significant part of our activities are directed toward the development of a comprehensive system for evaluating and monitoring teaching quality and advising instructors to improve the quality of their teaching. Our main orientations and goals are:
- Enhancing the existing evaluation systems and improving teaching in line with the guidelines of the University of Ljubljana's Quality Committee and the requirements of EQUIS and AACSB accreditation;
- Raising awareness of the significance of the (self-)evaluation of teaching and introducing systematic mechanisms for improving teaching in all study programs at the Faculty of Economics (student surveys, external quality evaluation, program evaluation, etc.)
- Transferring experience and introducing European standards into the process of ensuring teaching excellence at the Faculty of Economics. We are preparing a comprehensive electronically supported process for personally monitoring instructors' quality and teaching development, as well as an electronically supported evaluation system for students.
