ISI is the oldest and most reputable international association of statisticians. Its informal beginnings can be traced back to the year 1853. It was formally established in 1885. A non-profit and non-governmental organization, ISI unites economic and official statisticians, survey methodologists, business and industrial statisticians, statistical educators, mathematical statisticians and many other subgroups which deal with the challenges of theoretical statistics as well as practical application of statistics and methodology. ISI has been an advisory body of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) since 1949. It also acts as an advisory body of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Prof. Dr. Ograjenšek started her four-year mandate at the 60th World Statistics Congress which took place in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) in July 2015. Following the completion of her mandate, she has again intensified her research on statistical education challenges as well as cross-pollination of qualitative and quantitative research methods. Her conceptual and research contributions to these two domains are discussed in eminent scientific outlets such as Harvard Data Science Review, International Statistical Review and American Anthropologist.
