Curriculum Vitae
Maks Tajnikar, PhD, is a full professor of economics and entrepreneurship at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. He served as Minister of Small Business (1992-93) and Minister for Economic Affairs (1993-96) of the Republic of Slovenia. He was Dean of the Faculty of Economics in the 2001-2007 period. During this time the Faculty of Economics became EQUIS accredited and initiated the AACSB accreditation processes. Maks Tajnikar has published over 500 papers, articles in various journals, text books (microeconomics, macroeconomics, managerial economics, entrepreneurship, venture management, post-Keynesian economic theory) and is the author of five books and co-author of five books. As author or co-author he published more than 65 peer reviewed articles. He has completed over 95 consultancy projects and has together with his colleagues actively participated in over 80 international scientific conferences. In the last eight years he was a keynote speaker on 8 occasions. Since the 1980s he has also been actively engaged in publishing commentaries and expert papers in daily press and professional journals. Current research fields are macroeconomics, firm growth, public economics, and health economics. He was a member of supervisory boards of several Slovenian companies and also of two hospitals. He was active in developing and implementing several new study programmes in Slovenia including the Master’s Programme in Health Management and Economics at the Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana. Together with his colleagues he co-authored an extensive health care reform proposal in 2015.
