Curriculum Vitae
Marko Jakli? was born on the 25th of November 1962 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. After finishing undergraduate studies in economics and business at the University of Ljubljana, he joined the New School for Social Research, New York, postgraduate program in economics, where he received M.A. degree. His Ph.D. studies were at the European University Institute, Florence, Italy. He received a Ph.D. degree from the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Economics, Ljubljana, in 1993. He is currently a full professor of business economics at the University of Ljubljana. His fields of interest are institutional economics, (international) strategic management, organization, start-up companies and development of start-up ecosystems, competitiveness policies, innovation competitiveness policies and regional development. He is currently conducting several international researches on organizational development in open innovation systems, the roles of institutions in economic development, networking strategies between companies and companies and public institutions, and regional developments (localism vs. globalism). He has published several articles in internationally acknowledged journals and written and co-written several books in the field of business and management development. He is also a regular consultant to major Slovenian and international companies in the fields of strategy, innovation and organization as well as to the government. He was a Chairman of the Expert Council for Science and Technology of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia from 2009-2013. He has been president of the curriculum committee of the Slovenian Association of Directors for the last 6 years. He is / was also a member of several advisory boards.
