From aluminum fences to aluminum decorative facades: transfer of entrepreneurial knowledge of Elšnik d.o.o.
Matjaž Elšnik, CEO, presented to the students the development of the family business Elšnik d.o.o. and key entrepreneurial experiences on cooperation, digital promotion, adaptability, and trust.
As a part of the project Entrepreneurial Competencies for Alu-Decoration as a segment of the Problem-Based Learning of Students in the Work Environment, students of the School of Economics and Business of the University of Ljubljana were visited by representatives of the company Elšnik d.o.o. Matjaž Elšnik and Jan Elšnik. Director Matjaž Elšnik shared valuable knowledge from entrepreneurial practice with the students. The company Elšnik d.o.o. is a leader in Slovenia in the field of aluminum fences, and is also intensively developing a program of aluminum decorative facades, which opens up new opportunities in the market of modern architectural solutions.
In the presentation, Matjaž Elšnik vividly illustrated the family business's development path, from initial steps to a consolidated market position, and highlighted the importance of decisions on cooperation with the company and the Guardi alu-fencing brand, as well as on quality, customer orientation, and the gradual upgrading of the offer. He also placed special emphasis on the current business challenges that the company faces in expanding into new areas, developing products, and strengthening its visibility. In the discussion, which was shaped by students' questions, he highlighted several key emphases for modern entrepreneurial activity: cooperation, the importance of digital promotion and thoughtful communication, the necessity of adapting to uncertain changes, the ability to anticipate future demand, and, above all, the role of trust in sales and concluding long-term business relationships. The visit provided students with concrete insight into real-world entrepreneurial decision-making. It strengthened their understanding of how entrepreneurial competencies are developed in practice through experience, consistency, and strategic thinking.
