School of Economics and Business celebrates its 80th anniversary
School of Economics and Business University of Ljubljana is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year. Over eight decades, it has grown into a leading institution for education and research in economics and business in Slovenia and one of the most prominent business schools in Central and South-Eastern Europe.
Since its establishment in 1946, UL SEB has played an important role in developing economic and business knowledge and contributing to the development of the Slovenian economy, public policy, and society.
The anniversary celebrations began in November 2025 with a visit by world-renowned professor and organizational psychologist Adam Grant, who delivered several lectures at the School and joined as a visiting professor. The anniversary programme continues throughout 2026 with a series of events for students, faculty and staff, alumni, and the wider public.
The central event of the anniversary year was the Ceremonial Academy marking the 80th anniversary of the School of Economics and Business, held on 8 March 2026 at Linhart Hall of Cankarjev dom. Through a documentary film and artistic dialogues, the programme presented four twenty-year periods of UL SEB’s development and highlighted its role in the Slovenian and international environment. The keynote speaker of the evening was the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Nataša Pirc Musar.
The celebrations also continued at UL SEB. On the SEB's anniversary, 9 March, a traditional morning gathering for employees took place, followed by an event marking International Women’s Day for faculty and staff.
In the coming months, additional events will further highlight SEB’s achievements in research, education, and collaboration with industry, while bringing together generations of students, alumni, and partners of UL SEB.
