UL SEB at the Global Finals of the CFA Challenge in Hong Kong
UL SEB students achieved an outstanding international success by competing at the global finals of the CFA Institute Research Challenge, held in Hong Kong on 12 May 2026.
Representing both UL SEB and Slovenia on one of the most prestigious stages in student finance competitions, Aljaž Colnar, Jure Mihelj Nagode, Lars Lenard, Matej Mivšek and Miha Marčun ranked among the top six university teams worldwide. Their achievement reflects exceptional analytical skills, academic excellence, and the ability to compete successfully in an international environment alongside leading universities from across the globe.
As part of the competition, the team prepared a comprehensive investment research report and valuation of Salus Group. The project combined in-depth financial analysis, strategic evaluation, and professional presentation skills, requiring months of dedicated preparation, teamwork, and engagement with complex investment challenges.
The team was supported throughout the process by faculty adviser doc. dr. Denis Marinšek, CFA, and industry mentor Primož Rozman, FCCA, whose expertise, guidance, and mentorship played an important role in the team’s success.
The CFA Institute Research Challenge is recognised globally as one of the leading academic competitions in finance and investment analysis, connecting students with real-world business issues and industry professionals. Reaching the global finals therefore represents an important accomplishment not only for the participating students, but also for the broader UL SEB academic community.
This achievement once again demonstrates the international potential, ambition, and high level of expertise of UL SEB students. We sincerely congratulate the entire team on this remarkable success and on representing our School with professionalism and excellence.
