Students presented business models for alu-decorative facades of the company Elšnik d.o.o.
With the project, the students connected entrepreneurial knowledge, sustainable orientations, digital solutions, and concrete development challenges of the company Elšnik d.o.o. in the field of aluminum decorative facades.
As part of the project Entrepreneurial Competencies for Alu-Decoration, which took place as part of the Problem-Based Learning of Students in the Work Environment, students of the School of Economics and Business of the University of Ljubljana presented business models and solutions for the company Elšnik d.o.o. at the final event. The event took place on Friday, March 19, 2026, at the School of Economics and Business of the University of Ljubljana.
The project involved students Kristijan Popovski, Vid Ranzinger, Luka Jerman, Nika Miklič, Andraž Plut, Hamza Draganović, Špela Bajec, Lucija Misja and Pia Prebil, who dealt with a real entrepreneurial challenge: how to effectively promote and market the program of alu-decorative facades. This is a new development area for Elšnik d.o.o., which is already recognized as a leading company in the field of aluminum fences in Slovenia, and with the development of decorative facades, it opens up additional opportunities on the market of modern architectural solutions.
The final presentations were accompanied by company representatives Matjaž Elšnik and Janja Elšnik and Prof. Dr. Boštjan Antončič, who provided comments, questions, and professional guidance to the students. The discussion showed that the students understood the company's challenge well and developed useful, creative, and market-interesting proposals for further development of the offer.
The students highlighted several key points in their solutions. They particularly focused on the aesthetic value of aluminum decorative facades, as they provide buildings with a modern, elegant, and prestigious appearance. An important part of the proposals was also related to sustainability, as aluminum is a material with a long lifespan, high resistance to corrosion, and the possibility of almost complete recycling. This places aluminum decorative facades among the solutions that support the green transition and modern requirements of sustainable construction.
The students also paid special attention to the digital user experience. They suggested the possibility of using innovative digital and AI solutions that would enable customers to more easily imagine the final appearance of the facade, a more personalized choice of solutions, and more efficient decision-making in the purchasing process. Such approaches can significantly contribute to greater product recognition, better addressing of target customers, and differentiation of the company in the market. The project offered the students valuable insight into concrete entrepreneurial challenges from practice and encouraged them to develop entrepreneurial competencies, creative thinking, and the search for useful solutions.
