Understanding China: A Dialogue with Young Chinese Diplomats
The IMB Programme hosted a delegation from the Chinese Embassy in Slovenia for an engaging dialogue with students, offering an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of China from the perspective of young Chinese diplomats.
We were honoured to host Binghui Zhao,Chargé d’Affaires; Qinggang Meng, Defence Attaché; Wengfeng Zeng, Economic & Commercial Counsellor, together with a group of young Chinese diplomats.
The session focused on three key topics: China’s electric vehicle industry and China–EU economic and trade relations, Chinese culture, and China’s poverty alleviation practices. Through a series of presentations, the guests shared their perspectives on China’s economic development, international economic relations and cultural context.
The presentations were followed by a Q&A session, during which IMB students had the opportunity to ask specific questions about the Chinese economy and business culture, as well as cultural practices, etiquette and everyday life in China. The discussion provided an opportunity for an open exchange of perspectives and further explored the role of diplomacy in fostering international understanding and cooperation.
Representing UL SEB at the event were prof. dr. Polona Domadenik Muren, Vice Dean for Research and Doctoral Studies and Director of the IMB Programme; Darja Saksida Bogataj, Head of the International Relations Office; doc. dr. Zhonghui Ding, Assistant Professor; and doc. dr. Anastas Vangeli, Assistant Professor.
The event was coordinated with the support of Matej Mivšek, President of the 33rd generation, who helped bring the two sides together and facilitate the exchange.
We sincerely thank all our guests from the Chinese Embassy for taking the time to visit UL SEB, share their experiences, and engage openly with our students.
