Globalization – Trends in trade and factor flows
Aims of the course
Students will analyze trends in world trade and factor flows, impact of globalization on growth of nations, importance of local and international institutions for reaping the benefits of globalization and governance of economic globalization.Students will learn open thinking and discussion of economic and social implications of globalisation. Students will understand the advantages that come from increased trade, FDI and IT revolution as well as openly discuss the more controversial social implications of it. In addition, students will be able to contribute by individual thoughts on how we can make globalisation work better.
Course syllabus
This course is taught over one semester and will cover the following topics:50 years of globalization.
Trends in world trade and factor flows,
Impact of globalization on growth of nations,
Importance of local and international institutions for reaping the benefits of globalization,
Governance of economic globalization.
