Performance Management

Aims of the course

- Develop an overall understanding of the challenges in strategic and operative management control.
- Familiarize with contemporary tools for strategic and operative management control.
- Provide solutions to performance measurement and management control challenges in areas, such as innovation, R&D, HRM, and IT.
- Understand the specifics of performance measurement and management control in not-for-profit organizations.
- Develop knowledge and capabilities to design, develop, and implement performance measurement systems and sistems for management control.

Course syllabus

1. The motivating and co-ordinating role of performance measurement and management control;
2. Performance measures for strategic and operative management control;
3. Designing performance measurement systems at the corporate and SBU levels (i.e. The Balanced Scorecard);
4. Designing performance measurement systems at the department level:
4.1. Innovation, R&D
4.2. HRM
4.3. IT
4.4. Other
5. Designing performance measurement systems for not-for-profit organizations;
6. Aligning performance measurement systems and compensation systems;
7. Managing risks for effective management control.
