About the Library

The Central Economics Library is the leading and largest scientific and academic library for business and economics studies in Slovenia. It was founded in 1947 and is an active member of the national library and information system COBISS and the national library consortium COSEC. It supports the needs of the faculty and the students, researchers and individuals from other fields of study as well. The library houses some 245,000 print books and serials, but provides primarily in-house and remote acces to many electronic resources to its users today.

In May 2012 the reconstructed and refurbished premises of the library were reopened to the public, providing spacious and friendly working and socializing space on two floors. To ease library transactions, tracking and security of the library material, the advantages of the RFID technology have been introduced. Computer working stations enable direct access to numerous licensed electronic resources thus upgrading the capacities of other library computer reading rooms and the wireless network which already serves the entire campus and the increasing number of students' laptops and other mobile devices. Fitted with the most recent scientific literature, reference material and textbooks in the open shelves access, licensed access to a number of high quality electronic journals and databases, modern library services and new additional user friendly working space the library has reached all the modern quality standards in the academic environment.

A late evening reading room is intended for those who would like to prolong their work in the library after the evening closing hours and special reading rooms for group work can be booked in advance with the librarian.

Mission

The Central Economics Library endeavors to ensure continued study support for all students and faculty and provide the foundation for research work. The library maintains materials and information resources that users need for their studies and research work.
