Dr. Polona Domadenik Muren is a Full Professor of Economics at the School of Economics and Business, University of Ljubljana, Vice-Dean for Research and PhD Programme, and coordinator of the International Master in Business (IMB), which has been ranked among the best global management programmes by the Financial Times since 2018. She completed her PhD programme in 2003 and has conducted part of her research abroad, including as a visiting researcher in Prague and as a Fulbright Scholar at the University of California, Davis. Her research interests span the broader fields of business economics, corporate investment behaviour, corporate governance, labour markets, and the impact of new technologies on business models. She publishes in international scientific journals and participates in research projects funded at both national and European level. In 2007, she received the University of Ljubljana Certificate of Excellence for Young Academic Staff in recognition of outstanding achievements in teaching and research, and in 2023 she was awarded the University of Ljubljana Gold Plaque. Since 2006, she has published numerous articles in prestigious scientific journals — including Borsa Istanbul Review, Journal of Business Ethics, International Journal of Manpower, Journal of International Business Studies, and Review of Comparative Economics, among others — addressing issues of corporate governance from the perspective of value creation, corporate investment behaviour, firm restructuring, labour market institutions, and youth unemployment in transition economies. Over the past decade she has participated in numerous international conferences. From 2013 to 2015 she served as a member of the Executive Committee of EALE, and from 2013 to 2017 as a member and Deputy Chair of the Management Board of ARIS. As coordinator and project leader she has participated in several international projects funded by the World Bank (GDN) and the European Commission.
