As Slovenia enters 2024, the Office for Macroeconomic Analysis reports that productivity lags behind the EU average, with added value per employee significantly lower than in other EU countries. This raises an important question—what’s driving this decline?
The 26th Portorož Business Conference, which started today, is the pivotal event in this conversation. It is organized by the University of Ljubljana, School of Economics and Business, in collaboration with Akademija Finance.
Today’s program started with a greeting from our Dean, Professor Tomaž Turk, PhD, who said: “Perfection is not achieved when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.” With this quote, taken from the Little Prince, he reminded us that it’s not about accumulating resources or processes, but about focusing on what truly brings quality, efficiency, and sustainability.
Following our Dean are some excellent speakers. One of them is our IMB Alumni, Luka Pataky, Senior Vice President at Automated Content and Sportradar and Professor Tjaša Redek, PhD, from the School of Economics and Business. These experts will provide their point of view on how Slovenia can embrace change and drive its economic transformation.
Tomorrow, IMB students from the School of Economics and Business will present their research on industrial transformation, showcasing how technological advancements could reshape Slovenia’s industries.
