Tomaž Čater PhD wins prestigious SAGE 10-Year Impact Award

The winner of the prestigious SAGE 10-Year Impact Award, the publisher's prize for the most cited scientific article in the 10 years following publication, is Tomaž Čater, PhD from School of Economics and Business, University of Ljubljana, together with his co-author from London.
The SAGE Prize, now in its sixth year, highlights the two most cited papers in all of the more than thousand journals in the SAGE portfolio each year, ten years after publication.
The award was given to the article “Bibliometric Methods in Management and Organization”, published in 2014 (online publication) and 2015 (print publication) in the journal Organizational Research Methods by Ivan Župić, PhD (Goldsmiths, University of London) and Tomaž Čater, PhD (UL SEB), respectively. In terms of the number of citations over the last decade, the article stood out as one of the two most influential in the entire SAGE journal collection. This achievement confirms the international visibility of the research work at UL SEB and at the same time strengthens the visibility of Slovenian science: according to Google Scholar, the article has so far recorded more than 7,400 scientific citations, and its methodological recommendations for citation, co-citation and bibliographic analysis have become a standard tool for mapping research areas.
Tomaž Turk PhD, Dean of the UL SEB, says: "We are extremely proud that our colleague's scientific contribution has achieved such a wide global resonance. The SAGE award confirms the top quality of research at our faculty and proves once again that Slovenian researchers are making an important contribution to modern science in the global arena."
Tomaž Čater PhD, full professor of management and organisation at UL SEB, where he has been teaching since 1998 and heads the Master's programme in sport management, commented on the news: “In this article, Župić and I wanted to provide researchers with a practical and reliable guide to bibliometric methods.” Čater's research interests include competitive advantages of companies, corporate sustainability and sport management. He has published more than 70 scientific papers and has served as President of the Slovenian Academy of Management (SAM) and as a member of the Board of Directors of the European Academy of Management (EURAM).
