Exploring Innovation Across Borders: IMB Field Trip to Northern Italy

IMB students are in full preparation mode for their final project, which will be presented at the Portorož Business Conference in November.
To support their research and deepen their understanding of key industries, the students of the 32nd Generation embarked on a field trip to Northern Italy, gaining valuable insights into value chains and industrial innovation.
First stop: Bioman, Maniago
At Bioman, a green-tech company specialising in organic waste recycling and renewable energy production, students learned about composting processes and anaerobic digestion technologies. The visit highlighted how innovation and sustainability intersect in the circular economy. The IMB group was welcomed with a comprehensive presentation and a guided tour of the facilities.
Second stop: Serichim, Torviscosa
Serichim develops synthetic methods and industrial processes for fine chemicals and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). The tour of their laboratories provided an in-depth look into the scientific and technological foundations of their innovations. Serichim is also actively involved in initiatives such as META Circularity and NACHIP, reinforcing their commitment to sustainable and circular practices.
Equipped with fresh knowledge and motivation, the IMB students are now ready to apply their insights to Slovenia’s deep-tech, bio-tech, and green-tech ecosystems as part of their upcoming project work.
Special thanks go to Jurij Giacomelli and his team for organizing and facilitating these insightful visits.
