Bachelor’s Orientation Day 2025: Entering the new academic year with a festive reception at the UL SEB

On September 30, 2025, a formal orientation day for the new generation of students was held in the Lillac Hall of the School of Economics and Business University of Ljubljana (UL SEB), marking the beginning of the 2025/2026 academic year.
The event began with an introductory speech, followed by a welcome address by the Vice-Dean for Academic Affairs of UL SEB, Full Professor Mojca Indihar Štemberger, PhD. The Vice-Dean emphasized the importance of learning and research and encouraged students to maintain a critical approach and not be afraid to question established practices.
This was followed by an address by the president of the UL SEB Student Council, Vid Gojković, who invited the freshmen to actively participate in extracurricular activities within the student organization “Povezani EF” and other associations operating at the school, and gave them some useful advice. As part of the event, a roundtable discussion was held by Ms. Mia Cvetkovski and Ms. Olha-Roksolana Chudentsova, during which the freshmen received valuable practical advice on some of the key challenges that students usually face at the beginning of their studies.
Next, the professors of the first-year courses introduced themselves to the students, briefly sharing what awaits them in the winter semester and welcoming them. Full Professor Mitja Kovač, PhD then took the floor and presented the key values of the faculty to the freshmen: eagerness to learn and creativity, entrepreneurialism and resilience, integrity and sustainability, and respect and inclusive cooperation. Following his speech, the students learned how these values are embodied in the educational process at the UL SEB on a daily basis.
After this, the freshmen received a schedule of activities for the orientation day, which included a workshop, where they learned about the study process at the faculty, a group photo, and additional presentations of the CEK library and international opportunities. Staff and students were available at the information points throughout the day to answer questions.
The responses of the freshmen confirm that the reception left a good impression:
"My first impression is excellent—I like that the school invests so much in students and offers them so much useful information on the very first day. I can't wait for the lectures to start."
"I enrolled at the UL SEB because I heard about its international recognition and good employment opportunities. Today, I am convinced that we can expect a high-quality education and many opportunities to study abroad."
The Bachelor’s Orientation Day is part of the broader context of the start of the new academic year at UL SEB. Interest in enrolment was exceptional again this year – more than 500 applications were received for 80 places available for students from outside the EU, which confirms the high quality of the study program and the employability of graduates. The proportion of foreign students is also increasing, with students from 58 countries already accounting for 14% of all undergraduate enrolments.
The UL SEB boasts an 89% employment rate for master's degree graduates within three months after completing their studies and regularly ranks among the Financial Times' world's best business schools. In addition, it is one of the few European public faculties with triple international accreditation (EQUIS, AACSB, AMBA).
The 2025 Bachelor’s Orientation Day event successfully combined the tradition, values, and academic excellence of the school and offered new students a warm and encouraging introduction to student life.
