Abstract:
This study investigates how peer- and self-regulated learning, together with collaborative job crafting, can enable crowdworkers to build resilience. Through a thematic analysis of Reddit discussions from four major crowdworking platforms - Fiverr, Mechanical Turk, TaskRabbit, and Upwork - we examine how online communities help workers navigate platform asymmetries, algorithmic management, and job insecurity. Our findings show that these communities function as resilience infrastructures generating both synchronous and asynchronous resources, including real-time knowledge sharing, technical support, and best practices. The study demonstrates that resilience in crowdwork is not merely an individual trait but emerges through socially embedded practices where workers collectively address shared challenges. In doing so, they create durable community-based resources that can help reduce vulnerabilities and strengthen resilience, accessible to current and future users.
