Instructions for using the Bloomberg Terminal
The Bloomberg Terminal is available in the Finance Lab for research and academic purposes at UL SEB. It provides access to an extensive database of financial data, news, analytics, trading and price information.
Since data export from this resource is limited, you should use it responsibly to avoid limiting access for others.
Please follow the recommendations for data export:
- Apply appropriate filters before exporting to download only the data you really need.
- Do not close Excel files with data you need more than once. If you reopen the file, all data will be downloaded again.
- Use Bloomberg Query Language (BQL) whenever possible to reduce the amount of data downloaded.
When analyzing data on a Bloomberg workstation, you can use the Bloomberg Excel Sandbox feature, which can be launched from the Bloomberg tab in Microsoft Excel. The file is saved directly on the Bloomberg terminal, allowing you to download and work with larger volumes of data. Please note, however, that the file cannot be transferred from the Bloomberg workstation to another device.
For help in creating a query or for advice on efficient use, you can contact the demonstrators in FinLab.
Access to the Bloomberg terminal installed in the Finance Lab requires a signed e-permit and advance computer reservation.
