Barbara Mörec
PhD

Dr. Barbara Mörec is a Certified Public Accountant and Associate Professor of Accounting and Auditing at the School of Economics and Business, University of Ljubljana. She earned her PhD in 2008 with a dissertation on accounting in insurance companies at SEB, University of Ljubljana. She furthered her professional development at Michigan State University and Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien, and in 2014, she was a visiting researcher at Harvard University. She is the author of numerous scientific and professional publications focusing on external financial and tax reporting. She actively participates in national and international conferences and professional forums, contributing to discussions on current challenges in financial reporting. At the School of Economics and Business, University of Ljubljana she teaches Accounting for Financial Institutions, Accounting in Banks and Insurance Companies, Public Sector Accounting, and Accounting Information for Decision-Making. Dr. Barbara Mörec is an active member of the examination board at the Slovenian Insurance Association. From 2014 to 2025, she also served as a member of the Expert Council at the Agency for Public Oversight of Auditing. Since 2024, she has been a member of the Slovenian Accounting Standards Board at the Slovenian Institute of Auditors, where she also contributes to the professional training programs for the titles of Certified Auditor, Certified Internal Auditor, and Certified Accountant.
