The School of Economics and Business was visited by a top sailor Gennadi Strakh at a lecture given by Prof. Dr. Boštjan Antončič in the Entrepreneurship course, where he introduced students to the connections between sailing, teamwork, goals, and entrepreneurial thinking.

We are delighted to share that the School of Economics and Business, University of Ljubljana (SEB LU) is part of the newly awarded Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Doctoral Network under Horizon Europe. The network, EMANAIRE – Empowering Human Agency in AI-Augmented Futures of Work, will train 15 doctoral candidates to study how generative AI and AI agents are reshaping work, organisations, and careers.

During the pre-exam and exam period, the CEK Library has extended its opening hours to provide UL SEB students with more time and suitable conditions for focused and effective study.

We had the privilege of welcoming Blaž Brodnjak, CEO of NLB d.d., for a guest lecture at @IMB. Drawing on extensive executive experience, he offered a compelling perspective on shifting geopolitical dynamics, the European Union’s evolving role, and Slovenia’s strategic position within this landscape.

The CEK Library will operate on an adjusted schedule during the upcoming holidays.

The Dr. Ana Mayer Kansky Award for outstanding doctoral dissertation is awarded to doctoral dissertations that meet the criteria of excellence in their field and whose content represents a cutting-edge achievement and breakthrough in the scientific and/or artistic field. The prizes are awarded annually to doctoral students of the University of Ljubljana.

The 2026 award in the field of social sciences is presented to Assist. Prof. Dr. Amadeja Lamovšek, a graduate of the University of Ljubljana, School of Economics and Business, for her doctoral dissertation titled “A configurational approach to work design for different forms of work”, which she prepared under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Matej Černe.

This year, we are pleased to welcome Tam Long Pham from Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University as a visiting professor in the Strategic Management course.

We had the pleasure of hosting Jan Peloza, CEO of Impact Hub, as a guest speaker. He presented the vision and activities of Impact Hub Ljubljana.

We had the opportunity to host a guest lecture by Benjamin Jošar, CEO of Triglav Skladi, who presented key strategic insights into the asset management industry.

The Secretary General of the Slovenian Sailing Federation Eldina Domazet presented the activities of the association, the Olympic sailing classes, and the role of sailing as a top sport and sustainable leisure activity to students.

Students learned about the functioning of the top-class sailing environment and the importance of cooperation, organization, and promotion of Slovenian sailing at the Burja Izola Sailing Club with Vasilij Žbogar.

The Sustainability Week is the largest event at the School of Economics and Business dedicated to sustainability-related topics. This year, it will take place from 20 to 24 April 2026.

Students of the School of Economics and Business of the University of Ljubljana, as part of their cooperation with the Sailing Association of Slovenia, got to know the world of Slovenian sailing up close, through a visit to Portorož and participation in the Sailor of the Year gala event in Koper.

Students of the School of Economics and Business at the University of Ljubljana learned about the entrepreneurial story of Tomaž Čopi at the Sailing Point company, who showed how perseverance in sailing and success in entrepreneurship are closely connected through his sports and business experiences.
