We were delighted to welcome our alumnus Uroš Ivanc, CFA, Member of the Management Board and CFO of Triglav Group, as a guest lecturer in the Financial Management course.

In episode 78 of the Alumni Connect podcast, Alja Pahor and Nik Jerovšek from Spontanzo share behind-the-scenes insights into organizing top-level sports events. They discuss the realities of event management, the importance of communication and trust, and how to handle pressure and unexpected challenges. A special focus is placed on the 24-hour charity climbing marathon with Janja Garnbret, highlighting the dedication behind truly unforgettable experiences.

In the winter semester 2025/2026, in the course New Product Development, led by Prof. Tanja Dmitrović and Assist. Prof. Živa Kolbl, we continued our collaboration with Zavod VOZIM, a leading Slovenian NGO in innovative education and behaviour change.

We recently hosted Kruno Abramovič, CFO at GEN energija, d.o.o, a finance expert with extensive senior management experience who transitioned from the investment funds industry into the energy sector.

We had the pleasure of welcoming Tim Umberger, an IMB alumnus, Board Member at Advance Capital Partners, and co-founder of Capital Partners, as a guest speaker for our students.

Tilen Klobučar found the starting point for his career path in the diverse academic environment of the School of Economics and Business. He knew he wanted a dynamic job that goes beyond routine and requires thinking in a broader context. Over time, he recognized procurement as a field that offers exactly this kind of dynamism, while also opening space for strategic thinking and long-term impact. An important milestone on his journey was his exchange at the University of Mannheim, where he gained additional confidence and a broader perspective. Early on, he set the goal of securing his first job in strategic procurement and persistently invested in it, even when the path was not easy. Today, as Head of Procurement at Pipistrel, he is building and developing the procurement function, while emphasizing integrity, ethics, and long-term thinking as the foundation of his work.

UL SEB is hosting the GSERM Ljubljana Winter School from 12 to 16 January, organised in cooperation with our partner institution, the University of St Gallen.

We recently welcomed Matej Pregarc, an IMB alumnus currently working at Hilti, for an engaging guest lecture.
Matej offered valuable insights into Hilti’s business strategy, organisational culture, and international career opportunities, with a particular emphasis on internships and early career development. His contribution was especially meaningful because he spoke not only as a company representative, but as an alumnus who once sat in the same lecture halls as our current students.

In 2026, the CEK Library expanded and updated its range of e-resources available to students and staff at UL SEB. Key developments include the addition of the new TrendWatching collection, an upgrade of e-resources within EBSCO databases, and the introduction of the Consumer Insights module in Statista.

The Alliance of Chinese and European Business Schools Network (ACE) organised an international research symposium at the School of Management, Xiamen University between 9 - 12 December 2025.

In January, the CEK Library enriched its collection of print and e-books with new titles, with a particular focus on publications from Cambridge University Press.

In 2026, students and staff at UL SEB gained access to high-quality e-textbooks from leading publishers Cambridge, Pearson, SAGE and Wiley.

During the pre-exam and exam period, we have once again extended the opening hours of the Blue CEK Area, where you can study every day from 6:00 am to midnight.

During January and February, we ask all users to maintain silence in the CEK Library’s study areas and Cubes of Knowledge as part of the exam preparation period.

Extended opening hours during exam and pre-exam periods, more study spaces, clearly defined quiet and social areas, additional equipment, and a coffee machine are just some of the improvements shaped by your ideas and feedback at the CEK Library.
