We recently hosted Mr. George Deriso for a guest lecture exploring his professional journey across corporate leadership, entrepreneurship, and academia.

When she left her hometown of Ptuj at the age of fourteen to live independently in Ljubljana, she could not have known how profoundly that early step would shape her life. Today, Tamara Štumperger is an electrical engineer, a part-time master’s student in the Business and Organization program at the School of Economics and Business, University of Ljubljana, and has been with Danfoss for thirteen years. She works in supplier quality within the automotive industry.

Her path has been anything but linear – from an early ambition to work with animals to leading complex quality systems. By combining technical expertise, business insight and the discipline of sport, she connects processes, people and ideas. She believes in responsibility, curiosity and in the idea that the right things happen at the right time.

Rok Spruk, Associate Professor at the School of Economics and Business, University of Ljubljana, was invited to speak at the 10th Conference on the Evaluation of EU Cohesion Policy, organised by the European Commission (DG REGIO) in Brussels in February 2026.

In the 79th episode of the Alumni Connect podcast, we host Alenka Repič, founder of Kaaita and a graduate of the School of Economics and Business, who openly admits that classical economic models “bore her to death.” Instead of profit maximization, she is driven by something else: the belief that nature and the environment are equal business partners and that in the end, we can all win.

On Thursday, 5 February, the alumni event From Saver to Investor took place at the School of Economics and Business, bringing together participants to reflect on the financial habits of Slovenians and the importance of long-term investing. Experts highlighted key asset classes - stocks, bonds, investment funds, precious metals, and cryptocurrencies - and emphasized the importance of financial literacy, diversification, and discipline in wealth management. The event delivered a clear message: long-term financial security requires thoughtful decisions, knowledge, and an active approach by each individual.

On 12 February 2026, the School of Economics and Business, University of Ljubljana, hosted a welcome reception for international exchange students joining the School for the spring semester. The event was designed to officially welcome students, introduce them to the academic and administrative environment, and support their smooth integration into academic and social life in Slovenia.

In February, the CEK Library continues to expand its collection with new printed books and e-books, supporting study, research, and professional work.

The Centre of Business Excellence of the Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana (CPOEF), successfully held the kick-off event of the new 8-module General Management Academy in Skopje. The Academy was designed by Alkaloid, the leading pharmaceutical company in the region, for its talents and leaders.
