Evolution of international trade

Aims of the course

- To analyze historical trends in international trade and its impact on economic activity in particular regions,
- To get familiar with the evolution of individual world trade centers over centuries,
- To learn about trends of globalisation and its economic and social implications.

Course syllabus

This course is taught over one semester and will cover the following topics:
Historical trends in evolution of world trade over last 4 milleniums.
Importance of trade for rise and fall of world economic centres,
Evolution of the European economy – From Roman Empire towards European Union,
Globalization – Trends and boundaries.
