Course syllabus

Personal Potential is derived from the comprehensive cognitive, and affective make-up of a person that underpin behavioural tendencies, both impulsive as well as control behaviours; the later construct competences when it is internalized. The course is focused on the development of the leadership competences that are not yet expressed in person’s behaviours, yet being desired from the perspective of leadership effectiveness.

The course is decomposed into three developmental-domains: personal development, communication effectiveness and career development.

The aim of personal development is operational movement from the socialized mind-set towards self-authoring mind-set. Each mind-set provides unique pattern of leadership competences. For the socialized mind-set the leadership competence of compliance, perfection and protection is dominant; for the self-authoring mind-set the leadership competence of innovation and change, system thinking, ethics and values, self-awareness and stake-holder relations is prevalent. The latter is a better predictor of leadership effectiveness. The candidate is 360-assessed at the beginning and end of the course alongside these set of competences; and coached during the course.

The aims of the communication effectiveness is to enhance persuasiveness, impact and influence in own oral presentations as well as to develop capacity for the constructive responsiveness of the critical feedback and challenging questions. Through a series of workshops and presentations person practices effective message delivery, body language, gestures, vocal projection etc.

The aim of career development is illumination of the decisional dilemmas that accompany existing work positions and the career movements to the positions of greater authority, responsibly and impact. This includes personalized consultancy with the career professionals on responsible career placement and personal brand development.
