Aims of the course

Candidates will acquire the following skills and competences:
- Ability to spot own mental biases and constraints in business-decision-making.
- Ability to turn complex, ambiguous data in a straightforward message.
- Ability to step out of comfort zone, take risks and responsibility for own leadership development.
- Ability to sense own emotions and emotions of others and use them for empowerment.
- Ability to grasp better own guiding principles, values and ethical boundaries of own behaviors.
- Ability resolve conflicts in constructive manner.
- Ability to exercise influence through effective persuasion and other sources of power.
- Ability provide constructive personal and group feedback.

Course syllabus

Course purpose
Purpose of the course is to strengthen the leadership potential of the candidates by making them better equipped for successful implementation of three core leadership functions:
- To establish a clear business direction (vision) in ambiguous business situations.
- To motivate and energize people to pursue the stated direction (vision).
- To align interest and create followership by all stakeholders in order to successfully embrace the vision.

Course concepts:
- Cognitive challenges in search for profitable business opportunities: cognitive biases; the power and dangers of associative thinking, past experiences and emotional attachments to past successes.
- Authentic leadership: the role of crucible in leadership development, self-awareness of own principles, values, and ethical boundaries; development of support networks.
- Power and influence: sources of power, strategies of effective persuasion and influence tactics, organizational politics and ethics.
