1. Provides an introduction into the agency theory within the theory of the firm as a nexus of contracts between different stakeholders
2. Discusses the participation of the latter in firm decision making
3. Provides an overview of the empirical analyses of different corporate governance mechanisms and their impact on financial performance and economic efficiency of firms in different countries
