Vsebina predmeta

This course provides an overview of the Slovenian economy. A special emphasis is dedicated to the current trends and problems, such as the pension system’s reforms, international competitiveness of the Slovenian economy, regulation of markets, etc. In seminars and paper presentations participants will draw comparisons between Slovenia and their own countries.

Introduction: key characteristics of the Slovenian economy
• GDP and economic growth
• Unemployment
• Inflation
• (Balance of payments)
Institutional changes from socialist to the market economy: privatisation and governance structure, new institutions and structure
Firms’ performance
Fiscal policy and public finance reform (tax reform, pension reform, health care reform)
