Tourism

area of specialisation within study programme

Travelling with a travel agency but have no idea how they organise your entire trip, from transport to hotel, and excursions? Would you like to become a travel agency owner and manage the business legally? What are the strategies for sustainable tourism development and how do travellers, tourism workers and the sector as a whole benefit from them? What is the importance of tourism to the global, national and regional economy? What are the environmental and social impacts of mass tourism and why are there more and more “concrete jungles”? Have you always imagined yourself as a hotel manager? Would you like to become a tourism researcher? Are you interested in tourism policy at EU level? Do you like backpacking, meeting new people and cultures, and would you like to give other travellers the same experience one day? Have you ever wondered why some destinations are more popular than others or what the purpose of tourism marketing is? Why do people travel at all? Do you not believe in the “tourist is king” narrative?

Let us convince you! Studying tourism will not make you a tourist, but a tourism professional. You will be able to answer the above questions and gain an insight into the key skills associated with a fast-growing sector that is driving economic development in many countries around the world. The course is designed to put into practice the theoretical knowledge acquired during your studies (preparation of business plans, case studies and business projects, company visits, field trips to companies, etc.).
